What's New at Fallingwater® for 2008...For its 45th season, Fallingwater® will open Mondays and close Wednesdays to accommodate travelers who are taking three-day weekend getaways. A traveling exhibition, The Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright through the Eyes of a Child will be featured at The Barn at Fallingwater March1-May 18. Frank Lloyd Wright's birthday will be celebrated at Fallingwater June 8, 2008 with Author Nancy Horan, who will be on hand for a book signing of her book Loving Frank based on Wright's infamous love affair with Mamah Borthwick Cheney.
Make a Wright Turn...Discover other Wright masterpieces in 2008. Located just six miles from Fallingwater® is Kentuck Knob. Perched on a knob with a spectacular view of the Youghiogheny River Gorge, Kentuck is considered to offer one of Wright's most striking integrations of a home and its landscape. A third Wright-designed home, The Duncan House is now open as a guest house. This house is one of only four in the country where guests may actually spend the night and experience the Wright lifestyle.
French & Indian War 250...Fort Ligonier commemorates its 250th Anniversary (1758-2008) of the French & Indian War with special events throughout the season. The American Eagle Outfitters Tour of PA - an elite international cycling event that follows the Forbes Trail from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh will hold one of its staging areas and depart from Fort Ligonier Day 5 of the race - Saturday, June 28, 2008. August 16-17, the National Encampment of the Brigade of the American Revolution will be held at Fort Ligonier. October 10-12 is the annual Fort Ligonier Days. Hear the roar of the cannons and thunder of musketry at battle demonstrations at 2:00 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Visit the British and French military encampments, and journey back in time to an eighteenth century fort community.

Laurel Highlands Forefront of EcoTourism... Powdermill Nature Reserve, a Field Station for Pittsburgh's Carnegie Museum of Natural History recently expanded the nature reserve with an impressive visitors center that features additional exhibitions and class room space for its free nature series. The opening of the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve at Saint Vincent College, Latrobe honors Mrs. Palmers' (late wife of legendary golfer Arnold Palmer) dream to preserve a 50-acre sanctuary adjacent to Saint Vincent College. The new nature center offers a nature series
from a restored 19th-century barn and will use the grounds to study wetlands preservation, soil conservation and wildlife preservation.
